Community Transport Calderdale
Our Mission
CTC was formed in 2001 and operates throughout the whole of Calderdale, which includes operating a social car service in Todmorden & the Upper Valley. Since April 2005 CTC has also incorporated the Disability Minibus Association.
Our core activity is the provision of transport to those people
in Calderdale who cannot access other existing forms of transport for reasons of ill health, disability (mental or
physical), geographical isolation, poverty or social exclusion. Our service users range from young children to
pensioners. We currently have three minibuses and two people carriers, all of which are fully accessible.
For many of the people we provide help to
it is the only time they leave the house and means that as well as providing access to services and amenities throughout
Calderdale, there is also a great social benefit to our service users. We also provide transport to local schools,
community centres, residential homes, community groups and individuals, all of whom would not be able to access the
amenities they do without our help.
In Todmorden & the Upper Valley we operate a very successful social car service using many volunteers from the local area who use their own vehicles to provide transport to individuals.
We also provide training such as MiDAS & PATS to groups, which enables them to use their own driver and to have much more independence, as they are no longer reliant on us supplying drivers.
CTC has a clear organisational structure, our Management Committee/Board of Directors is an active Board of 9 executive members as well as non-executive members from our current funders (Primary Care Trust, CMBC & the Rural Transport Partnership). The Chief Officer (Andy Latham) is directly responsible to the Board and in turn line manages 6 paid members of staff and a pool of up to 25 volunteers.
